Everything was well prepared: President Piet Jansen and Secretary Michael Jacobs had travelled to the Latvian capital Riga in September to prepare this year’s IV General Assembly for the end of October with Anna Jermakovica, the headmistress of Riga Catholic High School. For the planned study day on the topic of “Challenges of digitalisation for religion and education in Christian schools”, top-class speakers had been recruited: Prof. Gert Biesta, philosopher of education from the Netherlands, and Martin Fugmann, headmaster from Germany with international experience. Practical contributions from Christian schools in Estonia and Hungary complemented the programme. In addition, a visit to the Latvian National Library and a guided tour of Riga’s architecturally impressive Art Nouveau quarter were planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, only 10 days before the General Members’ Meeting, we received the news of another government-ordered lockdown in Latvia so that this year’s General Members’ Meeting could again only take place virtually via Zoom on 29 October. 20 people from 14 member unions registered via the Zoom link; 4 more transferred their voting rights to participating members. This enabled the necessary elections to the Executive Board to be held in an orderly manner: Treasurer Bertrand Knobel (Switzerland), Secretary Michael Jacobs (Germany) and board member Judit Hallgaton\u00e9 (Hungary) were re-elected to the IV board for four years. President Piet Jansen (Netherlands) and Marian Damankos (Slovakia) are up for re-election in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hopefully, the cancelled study conference on “Digitalisation in Christian Schools” will be held in Riga in spring 2022 and, if possible, with the same speakers.

Alles war so gut vorbereitet: Pr\u00e4sident Piet Jansen und Sekret\u00e4r Michael Jacobs waren im September in die lettische Hauptstadt Riga gereist, um mit Anna Jermakovica, der Schulleiterin des Katholischen Gymnasiums Riga, die diesj\u00e4hrige Mitgliederversammlung des IV f\u00fcr Ende Oktober vorzubereiten. F\u00fcr den geplanten Studientag zum Thema \u201cHerausforderungen der Digitalisierung f\u00fcr Religion und Bildung in christlichen Schulen\u201d waren hochkar\u00e4tige Referenten gewonnen worden: Prof. Gert Biesta, Bildungsphilosoph aus den Niederlanden, und Martin Fugmann, Schulleiter aus Deutschland mit internationaler Erfahrung. Praxisbeitr\u00e4ge christlicher Schulen aus Estland und Ungarn sollten das Programm erg\u00e4nzen, und ein Besuch der lettischen Nationalbibliothek sowie eine F\u00fchrung durch das architektonisch eindrucksvolle Jugendstilviertel Rigas waren geplant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nur 10 Tage vor der Allgemeinen Mitgliederversammlung erreichte uns dann die Nachricht vom erneuten, staatlich angeordneten Lockdown in Lettland, so dass die diesj\u00e4hrige Mitgliederversammlung wieder nur virtuell via Zoom am 29. Oktober stattfinden konnte. 20 Personen aus 14 Mitgliedsverb\u00e4nden meldeten sich \u00fcber den Zoom-Link an, 4 weitere \u00fcbertrugen ihr Stimmrecht auf teilnehmende Mitglieder. Dadurch konnten die notwendigen Vorstandswahlen ordnungsgem\u00e4\u00df durchgef\u00fchrt werden: Schatzmeister Bertrand Knobel (Schweiz), Sekret\u00e4r Michael Jacobs (Deutschland) und Judit Hallgaton\u00e9 (Ungarn) als weiteres Vorstandsmitglied wurden erneut f\u00fcr vier Jahre in den Vorstand des IV gew\u00e4hlt. Pr\u00e4sident Piet Jansen (Niederlande) und Marian Damankos (Slowakei) stehen erst 2022 bzw. 2023 zur Wiederwahl an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die ausgefallene Studientagung zum Thema \u201cDigitalisierung in christlichen Schulen\u201d soll nun im Fr\u00fchjahr 2022, m\u00f6glichst mit denselben Referenten, in Riga nachgeholt werden.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
